Kirstin Burrows Photography | 2015 Year in Review
This last year has been an amazing year at Kirstin Burrows Photography, so here is my 2015 year in review! I have seen and been apart of some truly wonderful things, and personally has been a year to remember! This year my daughter entered Kindergarten where she is learning to read and write and she is also about to loose her first tooth. My husband and I celebrated our tenth anniversary this summer and celebrated with a repeat of our honeymoon to Walt Disney World, but this time we brought our daughter. Finally for the first time in 10 years my husband and I are no longer paying rent as we finally bought our first home!
This has been quite a year as I have been apart of 25 weddings, 20 engagement sessions, 6 boudoir sessions, 3 newborns, 1 maternity session, 1 homecoming, 3 holiday mini sessions, 1 family session, 1 birthday session and one 25th anniversary! Thank you to all of my amazing couples!
Every time I take my camera out to do a session I feel so blessed to be able to do something that I truly love. Everyday I get to be apart of capturing some of the happiest moments in peoples lives! If I did not have so many amazing clients I would not be able to do what I love everyday.
It would be impossible to pick just a couple of favorite images from everything that I have done this year so instead I wanted to share a couple of my favorite images from every session that I have shot! There are a few sessions not shown but most of my couples and families are shown below.
I started 2015 with Kelly’s boudoir session which was a lot of fun to capture. She is a stunning women who knows how to pose! I knew it was going to be a long 8 months while we waited for her wedding to her NHL groom before I could see his reaction to the album we had created for him.
Just a few days after capturing Kelly’s boudoir session I was able to get to work with a number of beautiful women during my boudoir marathon to capture their Valentine’s gift for the special men in their lives. It was amazing to get to work with all of these ladies and get to pamper them for their one special day.
Stephanie and Eddie’s wedding was the first for 2015 with a beautiful cruise wedding. I loved getting to start my year off with this fantastic couple on a stunning day with clear blue skies.
After their wedding I headed into engagement season, starting off with Gabby and Jordan’s engagement session at Quail Hill Trailhead. I also had Hannah and Jacob’s session at Fairmount Park in Riverside.
Jamie & Joey’s wedding at the Mitten Building was a stunning event! The love between these two is special and I was honored to get to work with them.
Elise and Jonathan’s session at a vintage bookstore in Whitter was truly one of a kind! I loved getting to work at such an unique location.
Ayanna was the first newborn for the year and her and her big sister were so much fun to work with! It is always special to work with such sweet little clients.
For Claudia and Ricardo’s engagement session we went to Old Town Orange and ended at a beach in Laguna Beach. I love all the different looks around the Orange Circle, it is such a unique location.
Jennifer and Raymond’s wedding at the Pala Mesa resort was a wonderful day filled with good friends and family. I loved getting to be apart of their day and celebrating with them.
For Michelle and Ulises’s engagement session we went the LA Arboretum and LACMA. The weather was perfect for their session, and with all of the different looks in the arboretum it was a magical place to do the photos of such a wonderful couple!
Anaheim Hills has so many amazing locations for engagement photos. I loved working with AJ and Mark at this incredible park. The trees were like nothing else I have seen in SoCal!
I remember the day I got the call from Ashley and Umi that they were excepting their son. I could not wait to do their maternity photos. I loved getting to work with them in this breathtaking open field by Tom’s Farms in Corona.
Newland Barn in Huntington Beach is a hidden gem for a wedding venue. Stunning sunsets and gorgeous market lights added to all of the specials details that Gabby and Jordan choose to bring in throughout the location. They made sure to think of every last little detail!
Lake Arrowhead is one of my favorite locations to get to do engagement photos. Melissa and Nathan were so much fun getting to work with up among these amazing large trees. We went to some of my hidden locations around the area and just had a great time!
Berenice is a very good friend of mine and also a fellow photographer so I was honored when she contacted me and asked me to do her most recent family photos. I adored getting to work with her and her family. Working at the field near Tom’s Farms we were able to get some amazing photos for this adorable growing family.
Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I LOVE Disneyland, and whenever I get the chance to do a session there it is a special treat! I just adore being surrounded by the magic! Anthony and Belinda’s engagement session was Disney without being overly Disney which made it even more fun to capture. Who knows where these locations are at Disneyland?
I have been photographing Mackenzie since she was three months old and she was a tiny little premie. I can not believe that she is already two years old. She rocked an amazing Cinderella dress for her session that her mom had custom made just for her! This sweet little girl is such a character to work with, I always enjoy seeing what she has in store for me!
Sara and Sam were guests at Gabby and Jordan’s wedding and they were dressed to the nines and I just had to work with them. I have always wanted to do a vintage stylized shoot so I asked them if they would be interested and they both were, so we put together this amazing session. I am excited to capture their soon upcoming wedding.
Floricel and Joseph’s wedding was perfect with close family and friends and an adorable little location at the Garner House.
Quail Hill Trailhead is one of my favorite locations to shoot at. It changes its look so much throughout the year and this year with the weather being so dry has really changed how it looks. Kimberly and Max’s engagement session there was truly unique as the weather gave us many different looks during a very short amount of time.
Ashley and Umi’s son finally joined the world! Umi Jr. is such an adorable little man and was quite the pleasure to work with.
I loved getting to work with Tyler to capture his birthday session at Washington Park in Anaheim. He is growing up to be a good looking young man. The best part about him is his amazing faith in the Lord, and how important it is in his life.
Claudia and Ricardo got ready at the gorgeous Mission Inn in Riverside which has such beautiful brick and scenery to work with. It takes my breath away every time. Their wedding was amazing, and her bouquet was the largest one of the year for me!
Erika and Mike’s engagement session was another beautiful day at the LA Arboretum, it is a breathtaking venue that makes it so enjoyable to do my job!
For Allison and Jonathan’s engagement session I returned to the Orange Circle and Quail Hill Trailhead. I loved getting to work with them both very much and I am so glad they had a great time planning props and things to bring along for the session.
Wilcox Manor is the secret jewel in Tustin for a wedding venue. Kimberly and Max turned this quiet little estate into the French dream venue and they did it perfectly!
Eloise and RJ were the first couple that I wrote their wedding date with sparklers for and I truly LOVE how it turned out.
Vanessa and Matt had a stunning Catholic ceremony followed by the perfect reception at Coco Palms in Pomona. I loved getting to do their photos at Frank Bonelli Park.
The Secluded Garden is truly a beautiful and unique venue. Megan & Steven had an amazing wedding at this stunning hillside venue! Between this amazing couple and the wedding coordinators every detail was in its perfect location!
Two Sisters Farm in Temecula is one of my favorite private locations to do engagement photos. The only sad news for this year is that they sold their truck that I so loved getting to work with so many times before. So for Heather and Drew’s engagement session I was able to bring in an adorable little couch to do their photos on.
I have never been a fan of driving all the way to Los Angeles as I hate traffic, but Jen & Scott’s Hollywood engagement session made it completely worth it I even got to shoot at Frank Sinatra’s bar.
Daubery and Chris were one of the very first couples to take a leap of faith with me. I had not photographed many weddings when they found me at a bridal show, they booked me over a year and a half in advance. When it finally came time for their wedding I felt so very honored that they had selected me as their photographer when I had not done that much. I loved everything that I was able to capture for them! I can not wait to capture the next event in their lives.
Kelly and Devin were a referral to me from one of my 2014 brides. I was excited when they selected me as their photographer when I found out that Devin is a professional hockey player! As you would expect their wedding was a spectacular event with every flower petal and hair in place!
It is a photographers dream to have a bride contact you and tell you that for their engagement session they want to make sure that they have all of the perfect outfits and they are going to use Rent the Runway to make sure they achieve that! Stephanie and Stephen’s engagement session was perfect from the clothing, to the location and most importantly a couple that is in complete love with each other.
Dominic was the sweetest newborn, he just let me snuggle him and enjoy working with him! I photographed his parents’ wedding last year so it was such a joy to photograph this sweet little one.
Coyote Hills Golf Course in Brea was the perfect venue for Erika and Mike’s wedding. This venue’s ceremony location is one of a kind and with all the details that they brought in for their wedding it was like a wedding out of a magazine!
Amanda and Nick are a couple who are so in love with each other it is just a joy to get to work with them! Their wedding was stunning and so focused on the love between them!
I always love getting to see how a couple is going to make their wedding their own, Heather and Drew had their dog as their ring bearer and it was the cutest thing. They had their wedding at the Canyon Crest Golf Course in Riverside, it overlooks the golf course and was a beautiful backdrop for this September wedding.
I had never gotten to work at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles and Maureen and Ken’s wedding at this historic hotel was a perfect casino night. I loved getting to be a part of their day and work with such a loving and happy couple. From the moment that I arrived they were just laughing and having a great time.
Christine and Myk’s LA Arboretum engagement session was my hottest session to date, coming in at 109 when we started the session at 4:30pm! Myk is a manager at Disneyland, and knowing that I used to be a Disney cast member let me be a part of the surprise for Christine that they had booked me. Their session though very hot was so enjoyable and get got so many amazing photos. I so very much enjoy working with couples that their love is so clear and easy to see! I can not wait for their wedding in early 2016!
Whenever I get the call to work with a military family, no matter what it is for I am greatly honored. When Nicole called and asked me to come to Camp Pendleton to photograph her husband’s homecoming it was my turn to say “Yes”! The best part about the homecoming was Ross had yet to meet his baby girl, so I had the honor of photographing him meeting her for the very first time! Such a sweet moment!
Anthony and Belinda’s sunset wedding was perfect, from her stunning ballgown, to the crystals sparkling in the sun and the amazing smile on her grooms face while she walked down the aisle! Truly a couple and wedding I was so very glad to be there for!
Laynie and Jay’s engagement session was so much fun as we got to work with her horse Chocolate Chip. Who doesn’t love going to a private ranch and working with a wild mustang! It was a treat to work with this amazing couple and her loving horse!
Michelle and Ulises’s Catholic wedding was such a joy to be a part of! To capture the stolen glances and smiles in the ceremony was priceless. These photos were taken at Griffith park in Los Angeles and their reception partied into the night at The Castaway in Burbank. Both Michelle and Ulises really wanted me to do my sparkler photos that I am known for but their venue and the towns surrounding do not allow sparklers, so I surprised them with doing the same photos but with using a flashlight! I LOVE the results!!
From the custom made dress, to the puzzle rings and all the way through the little details at the wedding, Jen and Scott’s LA River Center and Gardens wedding was perfect, other than the heat. It was one of the hottest October weddings I have ever had though their sunset ceremony and perfect venue made up for it all! A couple in so much love with each other is always a joy to work with!
Faby and Hector’s wedding day was simply perfect! Their intimate wedding, fun family and bridal party photos and great reception made their wedding one I will always remember.
Elise and Jonathan’s Halloween wedding at a private estate was a lot of fun. Their guests dressed in costumes, the children went trick or treating to the tables and there was a photo booth for all of the guests to get a shot in their costume.
Melissa and Nathan’s wedding at The Grand Tradition Estates in Fallbrook was a perfect day! Their ceremony took place right during sunset so they got some amazing sunset photos. They did a first look so they knew they would have great portraits and they had a day that was full of love, family and great friends!
I greatly ADORE doing boudoir sessions and AJ’s gift for her soon-to-be husband was the perfect session. She was amazing to work with as we had such a great time laughing and working together.
This year my holiday mini sessions were at a Christmas Tree farm. I think I may have found a new favorite location to shoot. I had so much fun working with these amazing families it was truly a great day!
Maritza and Art’s engagement session was at Quail Hill Trailhead and Crescent Bay Beach in Laguna. I loved getting to work with them both and it was amazing getting to work with Art in uniform.
Martina and Jesus’s 25th anniversary was a lot of fun to capture these great family photos!
Allison and Jonathan’s Catholic ceremony and reception at Strawberry Farms in Irvine was a treat to get to be a part of. I loved Jonathan’s ring which had two evergreen trees engraved on the inside.
AJ and Mark were my last wedding of the year! Their stunning Mitten Building wedding was truly a winter wonderland just like they had planned it! It snowed for their first kiss and also on their first dance, it was truly magical. They even did christmas ornaments as gifts for all of their guests.
I ended 2015 photographing Courtney and Brian’s engagement at the UCR Botanical Gardens. Their session was the first time I have ever been to UCR, it is a place that doesn’t look like you are in SoCal at all! I loved getting to end my year with this amazing couple!
Thank you to all of my wonderful clients for truly a outstanding year! I am so honored to have so many special people select me to be their photographer. Everyday I am blessed to get to do what I truly love, spend time with amazing people in some of the most beautiful locations in Southern California. I can not wait to see what 2016 holds and to be a part of many more special events!
